Free drug rehab at the Salvation Army
With a commitment to providing free drug and alcohol rehab to those that cannot pay, and very low cost drug rehab to those that can, the Salvation Army has been in the business of helping addicts overcome substance abuse problems for decades.
The Salvation Army Adult Recovery Centers (ARC's) are open and available to all in need providing they are sober at the time of admission, are willing to participate in work within the organization, both as therapy and to offset treatment costs, and are willing to participate in an evangelical Christian form of recovery.
What type of therapy is offered in Salvation Army free drug rehabs?
The formal therapeutic programming is generally 12 steps based group sessions, either AA or NA, and participants will be required to attend and participate in these meetings on a daily basis. Additional therapy comes in the form of bible study sessions, where relevant passages of scripture are studied for their message as it pertains to addiction, and also individual religious instruction and therapy.
Participants can also access educational and work related training and may complete high school equivalencies, or even College level classes while in the program.
Work as therapy
A major component of the Salvation Army's drug rehab is that work is considered a necessary participation, both to pay for the costs of the treatment, but also as a form of therapy. Through working in one of the Salvation Army Thrift Stores, driving a truck, or doing other work within the organization, addicts benefit from work as therapy. Through work, recovering addicts gain a sense of responsibility, gain employable skills, and gain social and interaction life-skills. Work is mandatory for continuing participation in the program.
Treatments generally last between 3 and 9 months, and all accommodation, food, clothing, religious educational materials and job training are provided free of charge to participants in the program.
As a side note, the Salvation Army has been heavily criticized for not allowing Gays or Lesbians to work within its organization. The position of the organization is that they cannot hire immoral people, and they consider homosexuality a form of immorality.
Is the Salvation Army drug rehab right for you?
For those in real financial need, the Salvation Army and their long history of assisting people with abuse problems can be a great alternative. To benefit from the therapies you should believe in a Christian God, and you should be willing to fully immerse yourself in the programs and work of the organization.
For those people who do have other options, or who can afford a private period of drug rehab, they may benefit more elsewhere. As a free rehabilitation organization, participants must expect fairly Spartan and shared living quarters, strict rules of conduct and limited therapy beyond religious instruction.
For people who are not Christian, gays or lesbians, or for anyone uncomfortable with evangelical Christianity, the programs are unlikely a good fit.

i am comming to syracuse next week. i cant find this freaking website that im really looking for but hey, computers arent my specialty...drugs are.
Hey there, Recovering Addict! This is very straightforward info. I knew Salvation Army helped alcoholics and addicts, but did not know the details. On the one hand, it makes me happy that someone out there doesn't view alkies and druggies as "immoral" (as some people still do). On the other hand, it bothers me a lot that the SA will not help gays and lesbians. WTF? That's just WRONG!
But for many people who don't have the financial means to pay for rehab, I guess this is a good option.
I don't know about other places, but where I live you can get hooked up with the County and get an assessment. You can then be eligible for "county" beds in detox facilities and rehabs. Another way to go if you can't afford rehab.
Another random thought: So about those Christmas bell-ringers with the SA kettles. Are those folks in recovery???
Where does an atheist alcholic go? AA and the Salvation Army are about "God" and "a higher power". The person I'm trying to help is an atheist who refuses to sit through any of "that crap" as he calls it. How do I help him?
My son is in the Fairfax County Adult Detention Ctr. in Fairfax Virginia. I am trying to find a local, court approved facility for him to deal with his addiction to alcohol and marijuana. My son would like to send you a letter to the director of the facility to see if he would be eligible to attend. I would also like the phone number and name of the director. Thank you for your time and God bless.
Wish i had known about this earlier. Now if my ex bf gets out of jail again, instead of going to prison, i know where he can go for help.
my son is in napa co jail in napa calif he needs to find a program in napa or solano co. any sugestions??

My daughter is wanting to get help for her addition but has no health insurance. I heard about the Salvation Army, but I don't know of any local in New Jersey. Please help me to find a place before she changes her mind or it is to late.
Does anyone know about the Salvation Army program located in San Francisco? The drug rehab part.
Thank you.
Karen
Between 2005 & 2006, I worked for the Salvation Army as a person of many roles. When I worked in the warehouse,I sorted, tagged, and catergized clothes. I also baled clothes that were to go to other Salvation Army Distrbution Centers

Well, Christian drug rehab centers are the most successful facilities for drug addiction. And you dont need to be a christian to go there.

my husband is currently in a detox program in upper delaware. he needs and wants "to the best of his wanting ability" to go thru long term recovery. we are looking into different places, and he is having trouble with possible "confrontations" with others as he does not deal with the unknown as well when he is not using, as is understood because i felt the same way before i ever went anywhere in public. some believe that the arc is the way to go for him.. christian based recovery has been proven to work miracles, and he does believe in God, deeply. But now he is leaning more towards a non christian program that he has heard about in detox from other patients. i dont know, as i never know, what is best for him when it comes to his gut instinct when it comes to "his" recovery. I know how i got thru mine, and we have a lot in common, but our way of thinking is not as in sync as our addictions were. i need help, please, as i am not the best at decision making. "God, please open the doors that we should go thru, and close the ones we shouldn't." advice is much needed, and thankyou.
I need help finding drug rehab for my sister, in the New Brunswick Canada, are there any rehabs available in this area that are free or low cost?
I really had faith in what I heard regarding the S.A. Had is the key word pertaining o the one in Amarillo Texas... My sister is a total addict to any thing that is not legal. She lived in and off the streets and finally wanted help bad enough that she went there.
She is Deathly afraid of the sleeping on the top bunk of bunk beds and that is where "the computer" put her when she was registered. She went to the "person in charge" and was crying telling her that she was extremely afraid of the top bunk and begged to be moved---she was told that she has to have a Doctors Order/Excuse to be moved to a bottom bunk because that is where she was put at registration...I ask you, "How on earth is she suppose to get one of the above with no Dr.?" Really, now she is back on the streets and will die there because she was afraid to stay!!!
We finally got her to consent and go to a "Christian Facility" and this is what we got!
It really re-installs my faith in man kind-----NOT!!!

good info.
I have a family member that desperatly needs alcohol treatment. The person doesn't have a job nor means to pay for treatment & is about to loose the apartment, so will be homeless at the end of this month. I need to find programs for alcohol in the Newark, NJ area. Whom ever could advise me of a good place please email me at email: martinez.lucy4418@yahoo.com
Thank you
i always give only to sa but after finding out there attitude to gays, i shall never again give any $ to them.. shame on them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm a raging alcoholic. I easily drink at minimum a 12 pack a night (which I cut down to from 18 on work nights). On my days off, I'm in the area of 30 beers per day. Two days, back to back. I have 2 children, and I don't want my legacy to be my beer can empire, or have my alcohol abuse impact my kids in such a way that they too become addicted. In short, I tried AA, and that isn't the solution for me. I need to be stripped of an environment where I can waltz into the nearest gas station and purchase my drug. I need to go to a rehab center. Problem is, I'm poor. I live paycheck to paycheck. And my addiction trumps the needs of my family to some degree. Obviously I need help. I've known that for easily 2 yrs now. I simply can't afford the help I need. If anyone here could point me to something potentially in my next to zero budget...well, I could offer something. But as an addict, it's easy to make empty promises. I need this one.
Need a drug rehab for my son, Neil urgently. Please help or send details to my mailbox,mcloete@tellumat.com
Thanks
Maurice
Sad thing is, I have read so many blogs of desperation......... I am one the them..... desperate to help my son, and adult child.......... yet amongst all this desperation, there isn't any leadership. I don't give a damn about gays and lesbians.............. what ever the sexual perversion may be, child rape, what ever......... the salvation army offers help that nobody else will offer!
Gays and lesbians? get your own help somewhere else! If you don't love, trust and believe in God's word then........ carry on you perve....... carry on........as for me and my family we will continue to to serve the Lord and donate to the salvation army. At least THEY are willing to give back to society that does not cost society a DIME........carry on you perves............ do your thing but leave us normal people alone. We don't want/need your perversion to pollute society............
My bother needs help! Hw d i contact you?
HI MY SON NEED HELP HE IS SUGAR ADDICT PLEASE BECAUSE I HAVE LOST ONE SON I DONT WANT TO LOSE ANOTHER.
Nice post. This is good for Salvation Army if addiction treatments are running at free of cost. Salvation Army drug rehab is best opportunities for getting effective treatments at free of cost so that addicts must get the benefit of this advantages.
Hi does anyone know the webstie for the Salvation Army in Minneapolis?
While there are many wonderful and well-meaning non-Christian based rehabs, I would like to encourage those that do believe in the Lord Jesus Christ (and those that don't) in this way: Anything that is not done through Jesus for recovery will (usually)be a temporary fix. Why not let the One who created you and knows your every thought, every motive, every sin and every good deed, (and loves you completely and unconditionally no matter what you've been involved in, no matter what you're addicted to) - let Him be the One to bring you complete deliverance from your addiction? I know many wonderful psychologists who can offer their expertise, but they have their limits; wonderful doctors, but they have their limits too. Even wonderful ministers, but again, we are all just humans with limitations. Please don't misunderstand, the Holy Spirit has and always will work through us (humans)to help someone in need - but please do understand that even the best program will be imperfect.....Jesus is perfect and His deliverance is perfect. Addiction is a life and death situation. Please choose life and seek a rehab that depends on the Love and Power of Jesus Christ. Addictions are strong and relentless - we have a God who is strong and relentless. I know the prison you must feel like you're in, the slavery to the drug or alcohol. Jesus wants to make you free and keep you free - He's the only one who can. I know of two free Christian rehabs: (1)Salvation Army and (2)Teen Challenge (which is also for adults). You can Google and research these. Please do it today - God wants so much to heal you - if you only knew...
I desparately need help for my son of 26, he has admitted to using a substance and is out of control, and also has asked me to find help for him. 1 800 SATRUCK to contact the salvation army and locate a Salvation Army ARC near you. I am from MA where there are a tremendous number of Treatment Centers and Half Way Houses all funded by the state DPH. The Salvation Army is the toughest program I have ever been to, it is strict and you must "volunteer" 40 hours a week. If you miss "volunteering" during your normal hours of work due to a doctors appointment or anything else you must make up those hours on your day off. During the xmas season you will also volunteer an additional 4 hours ringing the bell collecting money at the kettle. at the end of the week they will be kind enough to give you $5 "gratuity" for you "volunteering" and being a good "beneficiary" which is what you will be known as. FYI websters dictionary say the word beneficiary is derived from the word slave :)... Oh yeah and if you become injured weather it is work related or not and are unable to continue "volunteering" in their warehouse you will be discharged from the program! very christian, jesus would certainly be proud of this right? none of the counselors are certified by the state or received schooling to be counselors and HIPA laws are out the window as they will speak with others outside the program w/o releases or consent. If you can accept all that I've said and probably a little more (by the way this is the brockton ma ARC which is (according to other "beneficiaries") one of the better ARCs they have been to (I have only attended that one so can't speak on other centers... This program is a fairly good one for people that can manage to graduate, it gives you a solid footing in recovery and helps you to build a relationship with God... Just be prepared for a tough ride for the next 22 weeks!!! 22 weeks in a tough program... 22 weeks of dealing with the bull shit... 22 weeks to change your life forever... it was worth it to me, but was fucking brutal!
12 step programs harm more people than they have helped.Goggle orange papers & see for urself. The S/A needs to wake up, this is an attrocious treatment for addiction
Hi iam robert no opinuion on anything just need info from somebody thats been enroled in sa rehab center is it good or bab do they love u as christ loved us or do they constantly acuse u as satin does love or hate let me know because iam thinking about enrolement p.s. Iam adicted to crystal meth
Wow you won't help gays salvation army? That's very ungodly gay or streight their all children of god and only god should judge them I'm a streight women and I believe god loves all his children. These people have a right to gods love but if people like SA turn them away then their not gods helping hand cause god wouldent turn away a hopeful heart in need the bible tells us so much things are to sin but society choose what they want to enforce and its sad cause love comes from god and we cannot choose who we love it just happens and if you cannot accept that regaurdless the gender a person is a person then maybe its you who should find god and truley understand how his love is nonjudgemental its we the people who says god hates gays or lesbians but truley its we the people. Not god.
I'm a Holistic Life Coach, and a Professional Homoeopath. I take a slightly different approach to treating addictions of all kinds, by focusing on resolving the emotional issues that are often behind the need to escape. These same issues are behind a recovering addicts relapse in my experience. I'm willing to help ANYONE here who sincerely want so get well, and make a fresh start.

Where is your proof that Christian based rehabs work best? How does believing in God help an Atheist
One final point Christian based rehabs are the only ones backed by insurance so hardly a good basis for your ignorant statement. Kinda like shooting fish in a barrel. Let insurance cover all types of rehab then we can see what really works based on the data..
To Robert hooked on meth. Go to any place that will take you. If you want help than anywhere will work. Do it soon for you and your family.
Robert, blessings! 2 years ago I wazs sitting in jail in central Canada. I was violent and hooked on Meth. Now I'm an inter at Teen Challenge. look it up TeenChallenge.com The program changed my life.
hi, i am in ferndale michigan a
does anyone know the site for my area? for salvation army
i was passing through a very semen leakage i try allot of doctor, they all prove abortive, i try some many drugs but i still feel that pains, i read a wonderful comment on healing site when and America man
was giving a testimony concerning how a powerful spell caster who healed him from semen leakage, i quickly contacted the spell caster and explian the issues concerning my semen leakage and PE.
he told me not to worry that at 11:59 mid night when all the spirit is at rest cast a powerful spell to heal me from my deseases. and he really did and i feel something inside my body and consulted the doctors and they confirm that the illness has gone.
i,m so happy thanks to INDIANSPELL@YAHOO.COM for healing me from semen leakage and PE. Dr Shant Tami you are the best doctor healer in the world you can reach him via: INDIANSPELL@YAHOO.COM and you we see your own healing.
I enjoy reading the stories,I am very grateful to the Salvation Army.Although we have buisness to take care of and they keep avoiding me.
I found that the SA ARC local to me misrepresented itself to pysch hospitals, prisons, and other institutions. AFTER you get there, and only after you sign papers will you begin to find the truth, but the ARC will blame everybody else on the outside, or play the blame game with everyone else on the inside. If you have a pre-existing medical condition you will find, as did I, that eventually, usually fairly quickly, the SA ARC will "suggest" if you need more than one emergency visit inside of six months, that you are "not working your program". They have even told men outright "you are not working your program" if they change more than one work day for a week day off WITH a pre appoved dr's visit. This is a BUSINESS and a church (some say that is the same thing). There is much gross inefficiency. The "case worker" is not a case worker, just someone in the SA church OR another recovering addict who got bumped up the ranks. If you want to be treated like a second class citizen, or have your faith (I heard believers in Reincarnation and Jehovah's Witnesses belittled by SA ministers) called a cult or worse, then you will be at home at the SA ARC
A post above suggests that "religious" rehabs are "better" or "best". AA has been legally defined as a "religious" program because of the "Higher Power" involved. A rehab run by a religion is not necessarily best. SA ARC's are notoriously "unprofessional". From a religious point of view they are fine, in teaching a religious (i.e. Salvationist) point of view on addiction. It is a WORK program, traditionally (again, i.e. Booth) a fine perspective. BUT contemporary/modern medicine has shown a religious program alone is NOT enough. The medical (also emotional/psychiatric) needs must be attended. SA ARC DOES NOT attend to these. You will discharged to a MEDICAL program (or the street/warming center if no shelter available). ALSO, SA ARC is NOT free! Do not be misled. IF you do not have an SA ARC information packet available, demand it! Get photocopies (at their expense if you have no income) of ALL papers you sign in the ARC. If you ahave "outside income" you will be required to pay. If you have PA or SSI and you mis-report, they can go after you legally, thereby damaging your credit, altho debts under P.A. or S.S.I. are in "repose" while you receive those benefits.
if you need a solution you can contact.okokospellcaster@yahoo.com.and he is going to help u, He is a real man that have a solution to any kind of problem and he have help me before and i have directed people to him and they all get there solution on semen leakage.
